Technology in Education

My name is Bethany Boyd and I am 20 years old. I grew up in the very small town of Hawkins, TX. My faith is the most important thing in my life. I am the younger of two children. I love my family and am blessed to have such an amazing one. I enjoy friends, shopping, basketball, football, movies, music, and good food. I transferred to Texas A&M-Commerce after I finished my associate’s degree at Tyler Junior College. I have been interested in going into the education field for as long as I can remember. I am an All Level Special Education major and hope to find a job where I can help others achieve their education goals no matter what disability they might have. My plans are to become a special education teacher and would also love to coach basketball. 

I love technology and think it is a very important part of education. Technology is rapidly becoming advanced and will continue to do so over time. Because it is so far advanced we constantly use it every day for many different things. Why should the classroom be any different? It is important for me as a future teacher to realize and know how to incorporate technology into my classroom to better the student’s education. If teachers do not take the time to use technology and teach it to our kids, they will not be ready for the world today. I believe it is important to show students that as well as games and fun, technology can be used for many educational purposes as well. Children spend so much of their time on some type of technology. As a future teacher, I should be able to show and demonstrate to the children all the many things you can learn from using these devices. Teaching technology in the classroom will not only educate the kids for the present time, but will also educate them for the future. 

 

I was not aware of how well the class directly relates everything to teaching in the classroom. I am surprised at how much I am already learning in such a short amount of time. My goal for the class is to simply learn how to use technology in the classroom to better the education of my students as well as better the education of myself. I hope to learn of new technologies, devices, programs, ideas, learning strategies, and anything that I can use in my classroom one day.
